Welcome to the home of the Andrews High School Band Department!
We are a high school band organization based in Andrews, SC. Current director of bands at Andrews High School is Mr. Kenneth Bedwell. Andrews High School has many opportunities for instrumentalists: The Andrews High School Golden Force Marching Band, Andrews High School Concert Band, Andrews High School Pit Band, and the Andrews High School Contemporary Band.
- AHS Golden Force Marching Band: This band is co-directed by Mr. Kenneth Bedwell and Ms. Nickie Cox-Hutto, An experience unlike any other, musicians in this group stick to a rigorous schedule, attending a two week band camp before school, practicing several times a week during school, and performing at every home football game, with a few occasional away games, and contests. The Golden Force Marching Band has two main goals: to help the Football team win games, and produce a half-time show worthy of competition around the state of South Carolina and the Southeast Region of the United States. Instrumentalists from 9th-12th grade can enroll, while selected 7th-8th graders are elected by Mr. Joey Pittman to participate.
- AHS Concert Band: This band contains students grades 9-12, with selected 7th and 8th graders participating as well. The emphasis of this ensemble is on fundamentals as well as concert repertoire. The group participates in the SCBDA Concert Festival, and performs several concerts during the season. Students also participate in several other musical opportunities such as All-County and All-Region Band, University of South Carolina and Coastal Carolina Honor Bands, Solo and Ensemble, among other things as well.
- AHS Pit Band: This band is the musical support for the Musical Theater production and the Show Choir at Andrews High School. This is an audition only band, with only a few select spots open for the following instruments: Bass Guitar, Guitar, Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet, Baritone, Drum-Set, Piano, and Percussion.
- AHS Contemporary Band: This newly formed group founded in Spring of 2013 was aimed at teaching the non-typical musician at Andrews High School. Perhaps the musician who plays guitar at church, or drums in her home. This band is put together through the "Intro to Music" class, and performs one concert paired with the AHS Concert Band at the "Music Extravaganza" at the end of the year.
